Wildfires Occur in Gyeongbuk, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, and Gangwon
Amid dry weather, wildfires broke out on the 18th in various parts of the country including Gyeongbuk, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, and Gangwon.
On the 18th, wildfires occurred consecutively in Goryeong-gun, Yeongyang-gun, and Seongju-gun in Gyeongbuk, but all were extinguished. Around 1:37 PM, a fire broke out in a mountain area in Songgok-ri, Dasan-myeon, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, and was extinguished around 3 PM. The forestry authorities deployed one helicopter and 32 firefighters to carry out firefighting operations. At around 1:11 PM the same day, a fire broke out in a mountain area near Nodal-ri, Ipam-myeon, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, burning 0.1 hectares of forest land before being extinguished in about an hour.
Six helicopters and 58 firefighters were deployed at the scene to carry out firefighting operations. Also, at around 4:56 PM on the same day, a fire broke out in a mountain area in Gwanhwa-ri, Seonnam-myeon, Seongju-gun, Gyeongbuk. The forestry authorities deployed seven helicopters and others to fight the fire, successfully controlling the large fire by around 5:48 PM, about 50 minutes later.

Wildfires also occurred in Jeonbuk. At around 1:50 PM that day, a fire broke out in a mountain area in Ganjung-ri, Yongjin-eup, Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk, and was extinguished after 3 hours and 20 minutes. The forestry authorities deployed about 190 personnel, 10 helicopters, and 19 pieces of equipment to complete the firefighting operation.
In the afternoon of the same day, a wildfire in Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchang, Gangwon spread with the wind, causing residents of three households to evacuate to a safe place. At around 4:44 PM, firefighting efforts for the wildfire near Singi-ri, Jinbu-myeon, involved four firefighting helicopters, about 140 personnel, and 25 pieces of equipment. The forestry authorities and fire department evacuated residents living in three nearby households, defended the houses, and carried out wildfire suppression operations. The forestry authorities issued a mobilization order for 'Wildfire Level 1.'
Wildfires also occurred consecutively in various parts of Chungnam where a dry weather advisory was in effect. At around 3:17 PM, a wildfire broke out in Namsim-ri, Misan-myeon, Boryeong-si, Chungnam, prompting firefighting and forestry authorities to respond. They deployed four wildfire firefighting helicopters, command vehicles, firefighting vehicles, fire trucks, and a total of 10 pieces of equipment along with 69 personnel to extinguish the fire. Earlier that day, at around 1:21 PM, a wildfire also broke out in the Geumosan area of Yesan-eup, Yesan-gun, Chungnam, and was extinguished at around 4:15 PM, 2 hours and 54 minutes later.
