On the 18th, the number of new COVID-19 cases nationwide was in the 9,000 range.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters reported that as of midnight on that day, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 9,259, an increase of 194 cases from the previous day (9,065). Compared to a week ago on the 11th (10,009 cases), it decreased by 750 cases, and compared to two weeks ago on the 4th (11,244 cases), it decreased by 1,985 cases. Although there was a temporary increase after the start of the school term, the number of confirmed cases is showing a declining trend again.


Based on Saturdays, this is the lowest number of new confirmed cases in about nine months since June 25 of last year (6,778 cases). From the 11th to the 18th, the daily average number of new confirmed cases was 9,297. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 30,690,223.


Among the new confirmed cases on that day, 16 were imported cases, and 9,243 were domestic cases excluding imported cases.


The number of confirmed cases by region (including imported cases) is as follows: Gyeonggi 2,637, Seoul 1,927, Gyeongbuk 480, Incheon 473, Gyeongnam 416, Daegu 389, Jeonbuk 379, Busan 354, Daejeon 325, Chungnam 309, Chungbuk 303, Gwangju 285, Jeonnam 284, Gangwon 251, Jeju 222, Ulsan 110, Sejong 109, Quarantine 6.


The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 129, down 11 from the previous day (140), and the number of deaths reported the previous day was 4, down 3 from the day before. The cumulative number of deaths is 34,159, and the cumulative fatality rate is 0.11%.
