Ministry of the Interior and Safety Recruiting On-Site Inspection Tour Team
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 19th that it is recruiting the '2023 National Bicycle Route On-site Inspection Tour Group' until the 31st of this month to ensure safe and convenient bicycle paths.
The bicycle paths subject to inspection cover a total of 1,763 km across 13 sections. The on-site inspection tour group will ride the bicycle paths directly for one month from April 22 to May 21, identifying safety hazards and areas needing improvement, as well as promoting carbon neutrality.
The key inspection items include cracks and damage on the bicycle path surface, the condition of convenience facilities such as public restrooms and rest areas, management status of certification centers, installation status of safety facilities (railings, lighting, etc.), and guidance facilities (traffic signs, regulatory posts, etc.).
Anyone aged 18 or older can participate, and teams of 2 to 3 people can apply through the Bicycle Happiness Sharing website.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to expand the on-site inspection tour group, which was operated once a year until last year, to twice a year by dividing it into the first and second halves of the year, thereby enhancing the safety and convenience of bicycle paths.
Meanwhile, the launch ceremony for the National Bicycle Route On-site Inspection Tour Group is scheduled to be held in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk Province on the 21st of next month.
Choi Hoon, Director of the Local Autonomy Balanced Development Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, “The National Bicycle Route has become a tourist attraction visited by many domestic and international visitors to enjoy Korea’s beautiful mountains and rivers while cycling,” and added, “We ask for your great interest and participation in recruiting the on-site inspection tour group to ensure that bicycle paths can be used safely and conveniently.”
