Unscheduled Fire Safety Inspections by May: 20 Fire Stations Conducted Monthly
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Hong Young-geun) announced on the 17th that it will conduct surprise fire safety inspections at multi-use facilities across the province in celebration of the spring season.
This surprise inspection is part of the spring fire prevention measures and will be carried out monthly by 20 fire stations across the province until May.
The inspection targets include multi-use establishments frequently visited by unspecified large numbers of people, such as entertainment bars, Danran bars, singing rooms, and sales facilities.
They will focus on checking the closure or locking of emergency exits, the placement or installation of obstacles in evacuation stairs and passageways, the management status of fire doors and fire shutters, and the normal operation status of firefighting facilities.
If any violations are found during the surprise inspections, legal actions will be taken along with fines of up to 2 million KRW.
Hong Young-geun, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, stated, "To minimize casualties, we plan to continuously conduct surprise inspections of emergency exits and other areas in multi-use facilities," adding, "We hope facility managers will pay special attention to fire safety management in their daily operations and actively cooperate to prevent any violations."
