Three New Public Ambassadors Appointed to Promote Dongdaemun-gu for Two Years … Strengthening District Promotion

Participation in Festivals and Campaigns … Enhancing District Prestige and Contributing to Cultural and Tourism Revitalization



Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a ‘Dongdaemun-gu Public Ambassador Appointment Ceremony’ at 11 a.m. on the 17th to promote the newly changing Dongdaemun-gu and enhance the district’s brand image, appointing actor Yoo Dong-geun, Lee Jang-woo, and singer Noh Ji-hoon as public ambassadors.


The appointed ambassadors were selected from well-known figures actively working in various fields who have a special affection for Dongdaemun-gu and can widely promote the district.


Yoo Dong-geun is well recognized among middle-aged and older generations through various works ranging from historical dramas such as ‘The Legend of the Dragon’s Tears’ and ‘Empress Myeongseong’ to weekend dramas like ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ and ‘Shall We Live Together’. It is expected that his friendly image will help promote the district to the middle-aged population, which is large in Dongdaemun-gu.


Lee Jang-woo recently appeared on MBC’s entertainment show ‘I Live Alone’, where his visit to Gyeongdong Market was broadcast. Lee, who frequently visits Gyeongdong Market, said, “It was nice that the mothers recognized me, and I want to come often in the future.” Known as part of the so-called ‘Palm You Line’, Lee is popular among the MZ generation and is expected to effectively promote Dongdaemun-gu, including Gyeongdong Market, to young people as a public ambassador.


Noh Ji-hoon previously served as a Dongdaemun-gu public ambassador from 2019 to 2021 and expressed his feelings, saying, “I was disappointed when my term expired amid the cancellation of district events due to COVID-19, but I am happy to be able to serve again as a public ambassador.” Noh has gained great attention through his appearance on TV Chosun’s entertainment show ‘Tomorrow’s Mr. Trot’ and continues various activities including dramas and entertainment shows.


The three newly appointed ambassadors will actively promote Dongdaemun-gu in various ways, including participating in festivals and events for the next two years.


Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I am grateful that people loved by the public across various age groups have taken on the role of public ambassadors,” and added, “I ask them to work hard to widely promote the new leap of Dongdaemun-gu in their respective fields.”

Lee Ki-jae, Yangcheon-gu Mayor, Attends Hyunwoo Farm Love Donation Ceremony


Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, attended the ‘Hyunwoo Farm Love Donation Ceremony’ held at the Yangcheon-gu Office meeting room on the 17th.


The 400kg of mixed grains (worth approximately 6.4 million KRW) donated by Hyunwoo Farm (CEO Choi Jin-won) will be delivered to vulnerable groups through the Yangcheon-gu Food Bank Market Center.


Mayor Lee Ki-jae said, “I sincerely thank you for participating in sharing activities for neighbors every year, and I will continue to take the lead in practicing a culture of sharing together.”

Choi Ho-kwon, Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor, Attends Dementia Elderly Caregiver Volunteer Group Training



Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, attended the basic training for the dementia elderly caregiver volunteer group held at the 5th-floor auditorium of the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office annex on the morning of the 17th.


Yeongdeungpo-gu conducted basic training for the caregiver volunteer group ahead of implementing the ‘Caregiver Family Rest System’ that provides care to families with dementia elderly. The training began with the mayor’s greeting and focused on understanding volunteer work and coping strategies for dementia elderly.


Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “I sincerely thank many people for participating in the volunteer work that fills the care gap for families with dementia elderly and comforts caregivers’ hearts,” and added, “We will carefully build a dense care network so that not only dementia elderly but also caregivers can live their daily lives with peace of mind.”

Eunpyeong-gu Signs Business Agreement with Lotte Mall Eunpyeong Branch to Revitalize Youth Startups



Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) recently signed a business agreement with Lotte Mall Eunpyeong Branch to revitalize youth startups.


This agreement aims to expand new business locations for the startup space called ‘Seedling Store’ to help young people who wish to start a business. It seeks to expand opportunities for young entrepreneurs to enter stores and create youth stores within Lotte Mall, which has strong purchasing power and high foot traffic, to promote youth startup revitalization.


According to the agreement, Lotte Mall will cooperate to support youth startups by providing space for youth startup stores, waiving deposits, and offering low rental fees.


Eunpyeong-gu is recruiting young entrepreneurs to enter Lotte Mall’s Seedling Store until the 31st. Selected young entrepreneurs will receive benefits such as full deposit support, 50% rent reduction, partial interior costs support, and customized education after screening.


Lee Min-gyu, Chairperson of the Lotte Mall Eunpyeong Branch Operating Committee, said, “We have cooperated to enable young people interested in startups to challenge entrepreneurship without burden,” and added, “We will actively support youth startup revitalization in the future.”


Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “I hope that more successful models of talented and young entrepreneurs will increase through public-private cooperation,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts so that young people can settle in the region.”

The Seokgwan-dong Youth Guidance Council (Chairman Kim Deok-hyun) in Seongbuk-gu held a scholarship award ceremony at the Seokgwan-dong Community Center on the 14th. About 20 people, including members of the Youth Guidance Council and Seokgwan-dong (Dongjang Jeong Chang-seop) officials, attended the event.


To nurture local talent, the Youth Guidance Council members in Seokgwan-dong gathered their intentions and raised 2 million KRW in scholarships. Scholarships of 500,000 KRW each and certificates were awarded to four exemplary youths. This event was especially meaningful as the scholarship award ceremony, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, resumed after four years.


Kim Deok-hyun, Chairman of the Seokgwan-dong Youth Guidance Council, said, “I thank the Youth Guidance Council members who showed interest and gathered their intentions for the youth,” and added, “I hope the growing youths will pursue their studies with dreams and hopes and grow into outstanding talents.”


Jeong Chang-seop, Dongjang of Seokgwan-dong, said, “Thank you for carrying out scholarship projects for local youths over a long period,” and added, “I hope this will be an opportunity for youths to work harder for their dreams.”


Meanwhile, the Seokgwan-dong Youth Guidance Council actively patrols harmful businesses for youths, conducts youth campaigns, and volunteers, fulfilling its role as a member of the local community.

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) delivered 20,000 KF94 masks sponsored by Hyundai Department Store headquarters to vulnerable groups such as elderly, disabled, and low-income households in Apgujeong-dong on the 13th.
