[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 17th, Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, attended the 'National Investigation and Criminal Division Chiefs Workshop' held at the Police Human Resources Development Institute in Asan, Chungnam, where he encouraged the staff and promoted distinguished investigators.

This workshop was organized to facilitate communication with frontline investigation and criminal division chiefs regarding challenges and future directions in the investigation field.


Over 600 investigation and criminal division chiefs nationwide discussed measures to strengthen investigative capabilities, including special crackdowns on jeonse fraud, fake listings used as bait for housing and used cars, violent acts at construction sites, drug-related crimes, and major cybercrime.


Commissioner Yoon urged, "Let us unite our efforts to eradicate malicious crimes that infringe on people's livelihoods, such as jeonse fraud and used car scams, and to completely eliminate violent acts at construction sites."


Commissioner Yoon also promoted 20 frontline investigators. Among the honorees were Incheon Police Station Lieutenant Park Ki-hoon, who apprehended the perpetrator of a taxi driver robbery-murder case that occurred in 2007 after 16 years; Jeju Police Station Officer Park Jae-beom, who arrested a jeonse fraudster using a newly built townhouse as bait; and Gyeonggi Nambu Police Station Sergeant Lee Dong-gil, who captured a criminal organization that distributed large quantities of drugs using the dark web and virtual assets.


Additionally, two individuals recognized for their outstanding work in addressing violent acts at construction sites were also promoted. Among them was Chungbuk Police Station Violent Crime Investigation Unit Lieutenant Ma Kyung-ho, who achieved investigative success by arresting two organized crime members who extorted 81 million won from construction companies after establishing a labor union.


Meanwhile, since his appointment, Commissioner Yoon has announced promises to the public to eradicate malicious fraud, eliminate drug crimes, and eradicate violent acts at construction sites, and is fully committed to related investigations.
