After Visiting Prime Minister Gong, Making Hwajeon... Mrs. Kim Invites Mrs. Yuko to Korea

First Lady Kim Keon-hee, who is visiting Japan with President Yoon Suk-yeol, shared a friendly moment with Mrs. Yuko Kishida, wife of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, by experiencing making wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) together. First Lady Kim invited Mrs. Yuko to Korea, and Mrs. Yuko expressed her anticipation.

According to the Presidential Office on the 17th, on the previous day, First Lady Kim and Mrs. Yuko toured the Prime Minister's official residence and then made wagashi together under the guidance of a craftsman. They then enjoyed matcha tea while discussing various topics such as Yanagi Muneyoshi, a folk art activist who loved Joseon, the Folk Craft Museum he founded, Mrs. Yuko’s hometown Hiroshima, famous works by Japanese authors, and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The two had previously established a friendly rapport at the G20 Summit held in Bali, Indonesia, in November last year.

First Lady Kim resonated with the phrase introduced by Mrs. Yuko, "The pine tree remains green even after a thousand years," and replied, "I hope that this visit to Japan will serve as an opportunity for the relationship between our two countries to mature further."

First Lady Kim and Mrs. Yuko agreed to do their best to help the two leaders build a stable relationship between the two countries through their leadership. First Lady Kim invited Mrs. Yuko to Korea, and Mrs. Yuko, who has never visited Korea, expressed her anticipation. President Yoon reportedly said, while tasting the wagashi made by First Lady Kim, "It is not too sweet and delicious."
