Installation of Jinhae Family Center and Plan to Create Safe Streets
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 17th that it received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Women-Friendly Cities at the Government Complex Seoul.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family selects cities and counties for government awards each year through implementation evaluations on the goals of creating women-friendly cities, including ▲expanding women's economic and social participation ▲enhancing community safety ▲creating family-friendly environments.
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam received the Prime Minister's Award for Women-Friendly Cities at the Government Seoul Office.
The city received high evaluations for ▲women's participation in positions of grade 5 or higher managers, various committees, and residents' autonomy councils to improve the representation of women in the community ▲operation of the specialized startup space ‘Dairum Plus’ ▲services such as local childcare and hospital child care, promotion of the establishment of Jinhae Family Center for multicultural families, installation of Changwon Mom Community Center, and plans for creating safe streets, earning the Prime Minister's Award.
The city was re-designated as a women-friendly city in 2020 and is currently implementing related projects, with a re-agreement scheduled for 2025.
Ha Jongmok, the first deputy mayor, said, “We thank all citizens, including the citizen participation group and the public-private consultative body, who have contributed to creating a women-friendly city. We will do our best to create a women-friendly city where all citizens are happy and to promote gender equality projects through continuous efforts.”
