Jeon Du-hwan's Grandson: "The Whole Family Was Really Happy When Yoon Seok-yeol Was Elected"

Jeon Woo-won, the grandson of the late former President Jeon Du-hwan, said on the 16th, "Our family was really happy when President Yoon Seok-yeol was elected in the last presidential election."

In an interview with KBS on the same day, Woo-won stated, "During the previous administration, there used to be hundreds of articles about our family in a single day, but nowadays, there are almost none." He also said, "This is because Yoon Seok-yeol is running the country and there is a lot of corruption."

Woo-won repeatedly claimed that his family, including his father Jeon Jae-yong, is enjoying a luxurious lifestyle. He said, "The family is currently pretending to be without money," adding, "They need public interest to die down in order to escape and to manage their slush funds again."

Earlier, Woo-won said through social media that Jae-yong is undergoing the process to obtain U.S. citizenship. Woo-won stated, "My father is not a criminal in Korea and has never committed a crime, and he is going through the procedures to obtain U.S. citizenship," adding, "I understand that my older brother (Jeon Woo-sung) is helping with that process."

Woo-won also claimed that his older brother Woo-sung obtaining U.S. citizenship was merely a means for their father Jae-yong to evade legal scrutiny. He said, "There is only one reason my brother obtained U.S. citizenship last year," and added, "If the children obtain citizenship, the parents have many more ways to acquire U.S. citizenship, which allows them to evade legal surveillance and escape from Korea."
