The Power of Ma Dong-seok... 'Apgujeong' Ranks No.1 Korean Movie on Netflix

The movie "Apgujeong," starring actor Ma Dong-seok, has reached the top spot among Korean films on the online video service (OTT) Netflix.


According to FlixPatrol, an online content ranking site, "Apgujeong" (directed by Lim Jin-soon), which was released on Netflix on the 8th, has held the number one position in the Korean film category from the 9th to the 15th.

"Apgujeong" was released last December on IPTV (Genie TV, B tv, U+tv), digital cable TV (Home Choice), OTT platforms (U+ Mobile TV, Naver Series On, TVING, Wavve, Apple TV, Coupang Play, Google Play Store, YouTube, etc.), satellite broadcasting (Skylife), and web hard drives.


According to digital cable service Home Choice, "Apgujeong" ranked number one again in the first week of March (February 27 to March 5), six weeks after its VOD release.


The movie "Apgujeong," which premiered in November last year, tells the story of Daeguk (played by Ma Dong-seok), a native of Apgujeong with a mouth full of business ideas, teaming up with Ji-woo (played by Jung Kyung-ho), the top plastic surgeon, to become the pioneers of K-beauty. It was sold to 32 countries last year and has confirmed releases in Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States and Canada, and Singapore. Screenings in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Japan are also being prepared for this year.


Meanwhile, Ma Dong-seok has participated as a planner, producer, and actor in the films "The Divine Night: Demon Hunters," "Wilderness," and "The Outlaws 3," which are set to be released soon.
