Hurim Robot is showing strong performance. It is interpreted that buying demand is pouring into Hurim Robot, which had a collaborative relationship related to robots, following the news that Samsung Electronics increased its stake in Rainbow Robotics.
As of 9:38 a.m. on the 16th, Hurim Robot is trading at 2,695 won, up 7.6% from the previous day.
Samsung Electronics announced that before the market opened on the same day, it purchased 4.77% (913,936 shares) of Rainbow Robotics' shares at 30,400 won per share over-the-counter. Samsung Electronics had already secured a 10.22% stake in Rainbow Robotics in January, bringing its current stake to 14.99%.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics disclosed that it signed a shareholder agreement with seven special related parties of the company, including Oh Junho, director of Rainbow Robotics, and holds call options on their shares. If Samsung Electronics exercises the call options, its stake could increase up to 59.94%, raising speculation in the securities industry about the possibility of Samsung Electronics' merger and acquisition of Rainbow Robotics.
Yang Seung-yoon, a researcher at Eugene Investment & Securities, said, "The main investment drivers are presumed to be the promotion of automation within the Samsung Group using collaborative robots owned by Rainbow Robotics and the development of robot products through technological cooperation between the two companies," adding, "It appears to be a will to discover latent demand in the market in addition to technology development."
It is analyzed that robot-related stocks, including Hurim Robot, are gaining attention due to this news. Last year, Hurim Robot introduced the AI robot 'Temi' in the ‘Raemian RAI (Raemian Artificial Intelligence) Life Center,’ which embodies a future-oriented residential culture, through collaboration with Samsung C&T Corporation.
At that time, Temi showcased various services such as greeting visitors, escorting according to voice commands, and controlling lighting and audio through linkage with Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Recently, Temi has been active as an AI-based home butler, going beyond high-performance wall pads installed in apartments.
