'Air Quality Improvement and Heating Cost Reduction'... Gyeonggi-do Supports Installation Costs for 82,000 Eco-Friendly Boilers

Gyeonggi Province will invest 8.49 billion KRW this year to support the installation of 82,363 eco-friendly boilers in 31 cities and counties to improve air quality and reduce heating costs.

The province provides 100,000 KRW per unit (600,000 KRW for low-income households) to homeowners or tenants who replace their general household boilers with eco-friendly (low-NOx) boilers.

Applications can be submitted online through the 'Household Boiler Certification System' or at the relevant city or county office.

According to the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, replacing old boilers with eco-friendly boilers reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by approximately 87% per unit annually. Additionally, due to improved thermal efficiency and reduced city gas consumption, fuel costs are estimated to be saved by 440,000 KRW per unit annually.

Cha Seong-su, Director of the Climate Environment and Energy Bureau of the province, stated, "We will do our best to expand the installation of eco-friendly boilers that not only improve air quality in daily life but also help household economies by reducing heating costs."
