The Korea Exchange announced on the 15th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on mutual cooperation with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).
The MOU with the Taiwan Stock Exchange includes cooperation in ESG, indices, and data business, while the MOU with the Stock Exchange of Thailand mainly covers collaboration in IT technology and the development of complex financial products.
This MOU was carried out as part of the Korea Exchange's efforts to establish its position as a financial hub in Asia. By jointly responding to global issues such as ESG with Taiwan, a Northeast Asian regional exchange, and strengthening IT technology cooperation with Thailand, a leading capital market in Southeast Asia, it is expected to enhance the standing of the Korean capital market within Asia.
Chairman Sohn Byung-doo stated, "We will establish an Asian cooperative system with the Taiwan Stock Exchange to respond to ESG regulatory movements such as achieving carbon neutrality (Net Zero), promote active data exchange between the two markets, and actively promote KRX's IT technology with the Stock Exchange of Thailand to raise awareness of Korean financial products."
Based on this MOU, the Korea Exchange plans to continuously discover and promote cooperative projects with the capital markets of Taiwan and Thailand.
