No So-young, a member of the Gwangju Nam-gu Council, announced on the 15th that the 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Encouraging Childbirth and Supporting Multi-Child Families in Nam-gu' and the 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Infant and Toddler Care in Nam-gu,' both proposed at the 292nd Extraordinary Session Social Construction Committee, have been passed.
The 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Encouraging Childbirth and Supporting Multi-Child Families in Nam-gu' expands the criteria for multi-child families from the previous 'under 13 years old' to minors, thereby broadening support for multi-child families.
Additionally, the 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Infant and Toddler Care in Nam-gu' stipulates matters related to the establishment and operation of a comprehensive childcare support center that provides childcare support services. It includes standards for center establishment, functions, and criteria for the composition of childcare specialists.
Councilor No stated, "I hope that recognizing the low birthrate issue as a shared social responsibility and fostering a social atmosphere that encourages childbirth, along with providing childcare support services for home care by guardians and supporting and managing daycare centers within the local community, will enhance family welfare."
The ordinance amendments are scheduled to be revised through deliberation and resolution at the 2nd plenary session of the 292nd Nam-gu Council Extraordinary Session to be held on the 20th.
