Boseong-gun Successfully Concludes Dialogue with Residents and Governor

County Governor Kim Cheol-woo Proposes 1.5 Billion Won for Yeolseonru Project and Other Pending Issues

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the ‘2023 Dialogue with Residents,’ held on the 14th at the Boseong-gun Office large conference room under the theme ‘Closer to Residents, Happy Meetings,’ concluded successfully.


About 250 participants, including heads of local institutions and organizations, joined both on-site and via video conference. Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, personally explained the province’s vision and major projects to the residents and presided over the dialogue, which was conducted in a natural town hall meeting style.

In his welcoming remarks, County Governor Kim Cheol-woo said, “We have strived for mutual development and coexistence with the belief that the development of Boseong-gun is the development of Jeollanam-do.” He added, “The Boseong-type Blue Economy and the introduction of KTX-Eum are joint projects of Jeollanam-do and Boseong-gun.”


Additionally, Governor Kim requested 1.5 billion KRW in financial support for developing killer content for the reconstruction of Yeolseonru, a project currently underway with an investment of 7.5 billion KRW.


Secondly, he proposed that Boseong-gun and Jeollanam-do jointly establish a National Important Agriculture and Fisheries Expo and co-host the first expo. Thirdly, he suggested linking a 100,000-pyeong ecological park connected to Juamho Lake with the Jeonnam-type Balanced Development 300 Project currently promoted by Jeollanam-do.


Governor Kim Young-rok promised more than the requested 1.5 billion KRW in provincial funding for the Yeolseonru project, said the hosting of the National Agriculture and Fisheries Heritage Expo would undergo internal review, and expressed agreement to consider linking the Juamho ecological wetland park project with the Jeonnam Balanced Development 300 Project contest.


On-site proposals included support for attracting public institutions to Boseong, road improvements in Mundeok-myeon, and support for vacant house maintenance and utilization. Video questions addressed repairs to aging infrastructure in the Miryeok Agricultural and Industrial Complex and securing distribution networks for subtropical fruit.


Governor Kim elicited detailed responses from the relevant Jeollanam-do department heads to the residents’ proposals, receiving positive answers regarding budget increases and adjustments.


Meanwhile, in line with Jeollanam-do’s policy direction for the ‘Great Leap Forward to the World, Jeonnam Happiness Era,’ Boseong-gun is promoting projects such as the National Mudflat Marine Garden project, marine leisure tourism hub project, Yulpo Promenade construction project, Jeollanam-do Office of Education staff cultural and recreational facilities, fishing village new vitality promotion project, and the KTX Eum project.
