Local Constituency Lawmakers Express Welcome
President Yoon Suk-yeol announced on the 15th that 15 national advanced industrial complexes will be established nationwide to foster six major high-tech industries including semiconductors, future cars, and robotics, and that private-led investments worth 550 trillion won will be made, prompting opposition party lawmakers to react positively. They are emphasizing this as the candidate sites for these advanced industrial complexes are strongholds of opposition party lawmakers.
The national industrial complexes announced by the government on this day are planned to be established in 15 regions nationwide, including the Gyeonggi area, Chungcheong area, Honam area, Gangwon area, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, and Busan-Gyeongnam. In particular, Daejeon, Cheonan, and Cheongju in the Chungcheong area, and Gwangju, Goheung, Iksan, and Wanju in the Honam area were selected as candidate sites.
Accordingly, opposition party lawmakers representing constituencies in Chungcheong and Honam regions expressed their unanimous welcome. Kim Seung-nam, a member of the Democratic Party representing Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, and Gangjin in Jeollanam-do, issued a press release on the day stating, "Goheung County in Jeollanam-do has been selected as a candidate for a new national industrial complex for space launch vehicles," and emphasized, "The government plans to establish core infrastructure for the space industry such as the Naro Space Center by 2030, as well as a hub for the space launch vehicle industry and an innovation base."

Han Byung-do, a Democratic Party lawmaker from Iksan, Jeonbuk, wrote on his Facebook, "The second phase of the Iksan National Food Cluster industrial complex has been finally selected as a new national industrial complex candidate site," emphasizing, "Jeonbuk will firmly establish itself as a global food tech and hydrogen industry hub."
Park Wan-joo (Cheonan Eul, Independent) also stated, "I actively welcome the selection of the site for relocating the Seonghwan Livestock Farm in Cheonan as a candidate for the new national industrial complex announced at the 14th Emergency Economic and Livelihood Meeting," adding, "Since the new government has selected future mobility and semiconductor industries as 12 national strategic technologies, I expect Cheonan to become a cradle for creating future jobs and food sources not only in the region but across the country."
Kang Hoon-sik, a Democratic Party lawmaker from Asan, Chungnam, introduced the government's announced 'semiconductor cluster' as Samsung Electronics and Display investment plans. Kang distributed materials titled 'Great Welcome to Samsung and Chungcheong Area Investment Plans Including Asan,' stating, "We warmly welcome Samsung's announcement of investment plans amounting to 60.1 trillion won over the next 10 years targeting Chungcheong, Gyeongsang, Honam, and other regions for balanced regional development, and we will immediately begin seeking support measures at the National Assembly level to ensure this investment leads to another leap forward for Asan's economic development."
Earlier, President Yoon said at the 14th Emergency Economic and Livelihood Meeting held that day, "Based on large-scale private investments amounting to 300 trillion won, we will build the world's largest new 'advanced system semiconductor cluster' in the metropolitan area," and added, "To foster advanced industries such as space, future cars, and hydrogen, we will newly establish 14 national advanced industrial complexes with a total area exceeding 33 million square meters, or over 10 million pyeong."
