Kyungyoon (23), a member of the group DKZ who revealed that he was a follower of the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS), apologized to fans with a handwritten letter.

On the 15th, Kyungyoon apologized through the official DKZ fan cafe, saying, "I sincerely apologize to Ari (the fandom name), who must have been very shocked and disappointed. I feel like I caused you a difficult time due to my shortcomings."

He continued, "Those who visited the cafe (operated by my parents) ended up going there because of me, so I feel even more ashamed. I was also afraid that hasty words might cause greater misunderstandings," adding, "So I agonized countless times over how to start and how to convey my sincere apologies, and I thought it shouldn’t be delayed any longer."

He also said, "My immature handling caused many people to be disappointed. The words I mentioned in the past without much thought led to bigger misunderstandings, and I am reflecting and blaming myself to the point that I want to turn back time," adding, "I am very lacking and insufficient, so I am truly sorry." Kyungyoon concluded, "Lastly, I sincerely apologize once again for causing disappointment."

Meanwhile, controversy arose after it was revealed that Kyungyoon and his parents were JMS followers, as highlighted in the Netflix documentary 'I Am God: People Betrayed by God.' The signboard of the cafe operated by his parents bore the distinctive handwriting of Jeong Myeong-seok, raising suspicions that it was related to JMS.

At the time, his agency, Dongyo Entertainment, explained, "Kyungyoon was also shocked after confirming the broadcast content. We will verify all aspects related to the specific group and ensure his departure from the church and no future connections."

Later, in an interview with a media outlet, Kyungyoon confessed, "I attended JMS with my parents since I was young. I was part of the JMS singer group from the third year of middle school to the first year of high school. I was active from middle school grade 3 to high school grade 1. The Jeong Myeong-seok I saw did not seem like a sex offender. It was my mistake to be deceived by only that image."
