Jeonnam Police announced on the 15th that they conducted a joint comprehensive anti-terrorism drill with related agencies at the Ocheon Green Square of the Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo.
This drill involved more than 180 personnel from nine organizations, including the National Intelligence Service (Gwangju Branch), the 31st Division, Suncheon City, Suncheon Fire Station, Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office, Suncheon Health Center, Yeosu Chemical Disaster Joint Prevention Center, and the Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo Organizing Committee.
The exercise was conducted to strengthen the joint crisis response capabilities of related agencies in the event of a terrorist situation at multi-use facilities in preparation for this year's nationally important event, the '2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo.'
The drill simulated complex scenarios including drone terrorism, which has recently become a major issue, as well as chemical terrorism, explosives, and hostage situations.
To minimize public harm through swift and proactive initial response by on-site commanders during a terrorist incident, the chiefs and security division heads of 21 police stations under the Jeonnam Police Agency observed the drill.
A Jeonnam Police official stated, “We will continue efforts to create a safe Jeonnam from terrorism by maintaining ongoing anti-terrorism activities and establishing a response system with related agencies that can immediately respond in case of an incident.”
