The Mapo Cultural Foundation announced on the 15th that it will hold the M Retro Series ‘Eotteongayo 4’ at the Mapo Art Center Art Hall Mac in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 28th.
The ‘Eotteongayo’ series presents the stages of legendary singers who dominated an era under the concept of ‘Music is a time machine.’ This performance features the ‘Terius Special,’ starring the ‘four handsome men’ who swept the 90s music scene: singers Sim Sin, Lee Deok-jin, Choi Yong-jun, and Kim Se-heon.
Now in its fourth installment, the ‘Eotteongayo’ series is Mapo Cultural Foundation’s representative repertoire performance for the middle-aged 40s to 60s generation. It was planned to secure diversity in the performance industry, which is focused on audiences in their 20s and 30s, and to address the cultural exclusion of the middle-aged. The average ticket reservation rate for those over 40 in the last three performances reached 89% (based on Interpark tickets), marking a new box office record with great response from the 40s to 60s audience.
This performance notably features Sim Sin, who debuted like a comet in the music scene in 1990 with ‘I Love Even Your Sadness.’ Sim Sin gained great popularity in the early 90s with hit songs such as ‘Only You’ and ‘Greedy.’ Lee Deok-jin, who resembles the male protagonist of the cartoon ‘Candy, the Wild Rose Girl’ and is called the original ‘Terius,’ will also take the stage. Lee Deok-jin, who has consistently pursued heavy metal and hard rock, is currently active in the heavy metal band ‘Jera.’
Expect the performance of Choi Yong-jun, who debuted in 1989 with the first album ‘Thursday is Rain’ and sang hit songs like ‘Applause,’ ‘Maybe That Is,’ and ‘Legendary Love.’ Choi Yong-jun met fans through TV programs such as JTBC’s ‘To You Project’ in 2015, SBS’s ‘Burning Youth’ in 2015, and MBC’s ‘King of Mask Singer’ in 2020. You can also see Kim Se-heon, the red-haired Terius and rock band vocalist who gained popular appeal. He debuted as the main vocalist of the band Girl in 1995 and later performed with the band Eve after Girl disbanded.
Song Je-yong, CEO of the Mapo Cultural Foundation, said, “The ‘Eotteongayo’ series, designed for the middle-aged who have great cultural needs but lack enjoyable cultural content, has received great response with an 89% reservation rate for those over 40.” He added, “The Mapo Cultural Foundation will continue to lead efforts to secure content diversity and expand the audience base by planning performances that various generations can enjoy.”
The upcoming ‘Eotteongayo 5’ scheduled for June will feature Korea’s representative rock vocalists such as singer Kim Jong-seo, Kim Bada from the band Sinawe, and singer Kim Sang-min. Tickets for ‘Eotteongayo 4’ can be reserved on the Mapo Cultural Foundation website.
