The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees is the highest federal operational agency responsible for refugee applications and recognition in Germany, overseeing all refugee matters in the country. It also conducts academic research on related policies and international cooperation with the European Union (EU) and others.

Minister Han exchanged detailed opinions with President Sommer regarding the roles, necessity, and organizational structure of dedicated immigration and migration management bodies. They agreed to continue ongoing exchanges and cooperation, including providing information helpful for establishing a dedicated immigration and migration management organization. Minister Han also requested that maximum convenience be provided within possible limits, such as expedited visa issuance, to ensure that Korean residents in Germany can live without inconvenience.

Minister Han departed through Incheon International Airport on the 7th and spent eight days and seven nights visiting institutions related to immigration and refugee policies in advanced European countries such as France, the Netherlands, and Germany, meeting with officials.

Minister Han explained, "France, the Netherlands, and Germany are currently leading countries in European economy and politics, placing immigration and migration policies as the top priority in national development policies. Through this meeting, we agreed to establish a close cooperation system with these countries by exchanging immigration policy information quickly and accurately and setting up a hotline among working-level officials."

He added, "I believe that the talks with the top officials of European immigration policies will help in creating a control tower for our country's immigration and border management and in establishing systematic policies."
