Sharing Video and Situation Information During Wildfires Near National Heritage Sites

On the 15th, the Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Forest Service will sign a memorandum of understanding at the Korea Forest Service's main conference room to protect national heritage and forest resources and achieve carbon neutrality. Following the passage of the "Act on the Preservation and Utilization of Natural Heritage" by the National Assembly, they will discover new cooperative projects and strengthen mutual cooperation. The main contents of the agreement include ▲ permanent preservation of natural monument seeds in seed vaults (permanent storage facilities for wild plant seeds), nurturing successor trees, and establishing a gene bank ▲ protection of national heritage and forest resources from forest disasters such as wildfires and pine wilt disease ▲ use of domestic timber in the restoration of national heritage sites and public institutional buildings ▲ sharing of video and situational information for real-time monitoring in case of wildfires near national heritage sites ▲ planting of tree species such as Quercus variabilis and Camellia to slow the spread of wildfires around national heritage sites ▲ climate change research on palaces, Jongmyo Shrine, and Joseon royal tombs ▲ and realization of carbon neutrality.
