Participation in Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Bidding Competition
Hyundai Elevator will participate in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'One Team Korea' bid in the smart city sector, held in Indonesia from the 15th to the 19th.
The company aims to promote package exports combining urban construction, advanced technologies (mobility, smart city, etc.), and culture as part of the government and private enterprises in Indonesia, a resource-rich country with a population of 270 million (4th largest), an average annual economic growth rate of about 5%, and resources such as nickel and tin, with immense growth potential. Efforts will also be made to expand substantial human and material exchanges between the two countries.
Hyundai Elevator is collaborating with more than 10 robot companies, including LG Electronics, by providing robot integration and Open API (software interfaces that support connections between computers or computer programs) services for elevators in Naver's new headquarters. Based on this, it is promoting standardization of robot-elevator integration in the smart building sector.
In particular, the company released its Open API service in March last year. This service allows users to call elevators via smartphone without pressing buttons or provides customized information on elevator signage (displays installed in public places) by recognizing passenger information. It also enables operational system improvements such as reducing power consumption by analyzing elevator usage data or automatically positioning elevators on floors with high passenger traffic to reduce waiting times.
Joa Jae-cheon, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, said, “As a leading elevator company representing Korea, we will actively cooperate with the government’s bidding efforts as part of One Team Korea.” He added, “Based on this, we will do our best to pioneer and expand overseas markets such as Indonesia and Saudi Arabia’s NEOM City.”
Won Hee-ryong, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, “Indonesia ranked first in overseas construction orders last year and is a key infrastructure cooperation country for Korea. Projects such as the new capital and urban railways, which our companies have long worked on, are scheduled to be fully launched.” He added, “Starting from Indonesia, we will spare no support to ensure that our companies’ excellent technologies leading in smart city, mobility, IT, culture, and other fields can be utilized in the ASEAN market.”
