Namwon-si, Launches Life Safety Doctor Project for Vulnerable Groups

Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Choi Kyung-sik) has been promoting the ‘Gagahoho Life Safety Doctor Project’ from this month to create a safe and comfortable living environment for vulnerable households in the area.

According to the city on the 14th, this project involves 17 Life Safety Doctors visiting welfare blind spot groups such as elderly living alone, disabled persons, and single-parent families to provide life safety inspections and organizing and storage services.

This project is operated as part of the mid-career job project, receiving partial national funding support, recruiting retirees from fire, electrical, and administrative fields or personnel qualified in organizing and storage, and the service can be applied for by village through the Eup, Myeon, and Dong administrative welfare centers.

The main services include home safety inspections to prevent various accidents such as gas, electricity, fire, and falls, minor repairs like faucet and light bulb replacement, organizing bedding and clothes in bedrooms and master rooms, and organizing food ingredients in refrigerators.

In particular, the newly provided organizing and storage service from this year is expected to receive favorable reviews from elderly households living alone who have difficulty organizing their homes due to mobility issues.

Due to the nature of the project, it also serves as a counseling and visiting communication channel for elderly living alone, and in cooperation with the fire station, plans to install fire detectors and distribute home fire extinguishers.

Mayor Choi Kyung-sik said, “I hope that vulnerable citizens in the region will be free from everyday dangers and that their satisfaction with life will improve through the creation of a safe and well-organized living environment,” and added, “I ask for the interest and participation of many citizens.”
