Hyosung donates 300 million KRW to improve the welfare of the families of fallen firefighters and active firefighters.

On the 14th, Hyosung, together with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Hyundai Motor Group, held the ‘1st Together Sharing Project’ event at Ulsan Northern Fire Station.

The event was attended by Cho Hyun-joon, Chairman of Hyosung Group; Chey Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group; Nam Hwa-young, Acting Commissioner of the National Fire Agency; and Ahn Hyo-dae, Deputy Mayor of Ulsan Economic Affairs, among others.

Hyosung’s donation will be used to enhance firefighters’ welfare, including scholarships for children of fallen firefighters, healing camps for bereaved families, and improving working conditions for active firefighters. Hyundai Motor Group donated eight recovery buses to provide rest and recovery for firefighters at disaster sites.

Chairman Cho said, “Hyosung Group was born from the Ulsan plant and has grown into a global materials company today,” and added, “I am grateful to all firefighters who are always dedicated to ensuring a safe environment.”

He continued, “I feel heavy-hearted as the tragic sacrifices of firefighters have been repeated recently,” and said, “One of the most important values in our society is safety, and those responsible for safety should be the most respected and well-treated.”

Chairman Cho further stated, “We will find ways to support the improvement of firefighters’ welfare and contribute seriously to solving social issues from a corporate perspective.”

The Entrepreneurship Round Table (ERT) of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry was launched last year by business leaders with the meaning of ‘companies jointly considering and fulfilling their roles in various social issues.’ Currently, about 700 companies have joined the initiative.

The ‘Together Sharing Project’ is an annual project where ERT member companies select social contribution themes and practice them jointly. The first initiative was led by Hyosung and Hyundai Motor Group.

The 1st project was prepared with the purpose of supporting firefighters who are responsible for national safety. The amount sponsored by ERT companies, including Hyosung and Hyundai Motor, through this event is approximately 5.5 billion KRW.

Under the vision of “Sharing Together,” Hyosung carries out various social contribution programs based on three themes: support for vulnerable groups, cultural and artistic sponsorship, and patriotic and veterans’ support. They spare no effort in supporting areas in welfare blind spots, such as rehabilitation treatment costs for children with disabilities, educational support for non-disabled siblings, support for disabled artists, and housing support for veterans.

Additionally, Hyosung has donated funds in various national crises, including recovery from heavy rain damage in the central region in August last year, recovery from wildfires in Gangwon Province in March, and overcoming COVID-19 in 2020.
