At Starbucks, Apple Pay Remains 'Out of Reach'... Even After Landing in Korea on the 21st, It Can't Be Used

Convenience Stores and Some Large Supermarkets Expected to Adopt First

Apple Pay, the contactless payment service from the US company Apple, will be officially launched in South Korea on the 21st.

According to the financial and simple payment industries on the 14th, Apple and Hyundai Card are preparing to launch the Apple Pay service on the 21st.

The service was originally scheduled to start earlier this month, but the schedule was delayed due to reasons such as the distribution of compatible terminals.

From the 21st, users who have an iPhone and Hyundai Card will be able to use Apple Pay at stores equipped with compatible terminals. Terminals appear to have been initially distributed to major convenience stores nationwide, large coffee chains, and some large supermarkets. It is reported that Apple Pay will not be supported for the time being at Shinsegae Department Store, Starbucks, E-Mart, and other Shinsegae Group affiliated stores.

Earlier, Apple officially announced on the 8th of last month that it planned to launch Apple Pay in Korea in partnership with Hyundai Card.
