Governor Park said, “Gyeongnam has been fostering exchange and cooperation not only through friendly exchanges with local governments including Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan, and the Korea-Japan Strait coastal city/province/prefecture governors’ meeting, but also through private diplomacy activities via the Korean residents association of Gyeongnam in Japan.”

He added, “We hope to maintain a close cooperative relationship and work together in various fields for the mutual development of both countries. We also ask for your interest and cooperation in promoting participation from Japan in the upcoming Hadong World Tea Expo in May and the Sancheong World Traditional Medicine and Anti-Aging Expo to be held in September.”

Consul General Oscar said, “About 300,000 people visited Korea from Japan last year, and the Japanese Consulate General focuses on Korea-Japan private and regional exchanges and participation in Korean local communities. We will spare no effort in cooperation and support to revitalize exchanges and the economy between Gyeongnam and Japan.”

Gyeongnam Province exchanges with four regions in Japan: Yamaguchi Prefecture, Okayama Prefecture, Hokkaido Prefecture, and Hyogo Prefecture.

It also participates in the Korea-Japan Strait coastal city/province/prefecture governors’ meeting, promoting exchange and cooperation projects in areas such as environment and tourism.
