Gyeongbok University has been selected as a certified university for both undergraduate degree programs and language training programs in the Ministry of Education's 'Internationalization Quality Certification System' (IEQAS) evaluation. Among junior colleges, only 7 universities were selected for undergraduate degree programs and 2 universities for language training programs in this Ministry of Education certification.
Gyeongbok University has maintained the Internationalization Quality Certification for five consecutive years since 2019.
The Internationalization Quality Certification is a system in which the government certifies universities with excellent internationalization capabilities. It is implemented to present exemplary standards for university internationalization and institutionalize them to enhance the international credibility and competitiveness of higher education.
This evaluation was conducted through stages including quantitative indicator assessments such as illegal stay rate, dropout rate, and international students' language proficiency, qualitative indicator evaluations related to university internationalization achievements, and committee deliberations. Gyeongbok University met all essential indicators, core condition indicators, and internationalization support indicators to obtain the certification. The certification period is three years, from March 2023 to February 2026.
With this certification, Gyeongbok University’s information will be disclosed overseas through diplomatic missions, and it will receive benefits such as simplified visa issuance procedures, priority selection for government-sponsored scholarship programs (GKS), and international student support projects in various government support programs.
