Gijang-gun Holds 'People Power Party-Gijang-gun Party-Government Council' for Sustainable Development of Gijang

Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) held the 1st Party-Government Council of 2023 at 10 a.m. on the 13th in the briefing room of Gijang-gun Office.

At the meeting, Governor Jeong Jong-bok, 20 senior officials of Gijang-gun, National Assembly member Jeong Dong-man, Busan City Council members Park Jong-cheol and Lee Seung-woo, and Park Woo-sik, chairman of the Gijang-gun Council, along with all Gijang-gun council members affiliated with the People Power Party, attended to discuss party-government cooperation matters for sustainable development of Gijang.


Governor Jeong Jong-bok explained the national and city funding support projects and major pending issues during the meeting, urging active support from the party level for securing national and city funds and promoting pending projects.


First, in the area of national funding support, active cooperation was requested for ▲Southern region wide-area tourism development project ▲Jangansa comprehensive maintenance ▲Jungdong Port breakwater repair work ▲Climate response urban forest creation project on the abandoned railway site of Jwacheon Station ▲Route change of National Road No. 14, among others.


In the city funding support area, the focus was on expanding cultural facilities in Ilgwang New Town and improving major transportation networks within the jurisdiction, including ▲Ilgwang Education Happiness Town creation ▲Ilgwang Urban Regeneration New Deal recognized project ▲Road construction between Daebyeon and Jukseong intersection ▲Road expansion between Jwacheon Samgeori and Dongbusan Nonghyup ▲Bypass road construction for Jeonggwan General Industrial Complex.


Other pending projects discussed included ▲Establishment of Radiation Medical Science University ▲Gijang Market cultural tourism-type market development project ▲Introduction of the (tentatively named) Gijang Art Center on the public contribution facility (cultural facility site) of the former Korea Glass site ▲Measures related to the leakage accident at Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park, all closely related to the lives of residents.


In particular, regarding the ‘Urban Railway Jeonggwan Line and Gijang Line Attraction Project,’ which is the top priority project for local residents, the progress so far and future plans were shared, and it was agreed to unite efforts through organic cooperation between the party and government to expedite the early attraction of the urban railway.


Governor Jeong Jong-bok of Gijang-gun said, “I ask for active support so that the national funding projects and local pending issues discussed at today’s party-government council can proceed without any setbacks.”


In response, National Assembly member Jeong Dong-man said, “I will actively support together with local city and county council members to ensure that the county’s key policies are implemented smoothly,” emphasizing, “For the sustainable development of Gijang-gun, the party and Gijang-gun must become a so-called ‘one team’ that communicates.”
