CMX Updates Smart Inspection Feature for Railroad Subgrade Construction in Construction Collaboration Tool 'Conup'

Railway facility construction involves more complex and stringent procedures than general building construction. This is because quality and safety must be perfectly guaranteed as national transportation infrastructure. In the railway subgrade sector inspection, the contractor must submit an Inspection Test Request (ITR) at each process stage to prevent construction quality defects and accidents, and the supervisor must prepare an Inspection Report (IR). Detailed work inspection, testing, and safety check reports (ITC) are attached during this process.

CMX, a construction management platform specialist, announced on the 8th that it has updated the railway sector inspection report writing function in its digital collaboration platform, 'Conup.'

The biggest issue in subgrade construction inspection is that this process is manual. Not only does document preparation take a long time, but it also generates an enormous amount of hard copies. By the end of the construction, the inspection documents alone can reach tens of thousands of pages. Conup has digitally transformed this process into a mobile-based system.

CMX Co., Ltd. (CEO Ki-sang Lee) stated, "Our analysis showed that the most hard copies are generated from railway process-specific inspection ITR, ITC, and IR documents. We implemented digital collaboration for their preparation. The application at a metropolitan private railway site demonstrated the digital conversion of handwritten hard copy documents. Just as the Stone Age did not end due to a lack of stones, paperless does not require running out of paper. It is achievable through digitalization."

Since launching the smart supervision app 'Akiem' in 2016 and the construction collaboration tool 'Conup' in 2020, CMX has been leading the digital-based construction management solution market. Conup is Korea's first SaaS-type construction management collaboration platform, providing paperless services for work-specific inspection reports, concrete pouring plans, construction diaries, safety management, and design drawings, along with a nationwide site management dashboard.

To strengthen public sector services, CMX signed a third-party unit price contract for excellent products with the Public Procurement Service and announced it will open a construction management digital transformation (DX) consultation booth at the '2023 Korea Public Procurement Expo (April 26-28, 2023, KINTEX, Ilsan)' to promote its services to public institutions. Conup, Korea's first developed construction management DX tool, received the Silver Award at the 2022 Lotte Construction Technology Innovation Contest and the Gold Award at Kolon Global's Smart Construction Technology Contest, validating its technological excellence.

CMX CTO Seong-ho Ryu said, "There have been many quality issues in apartments nearing occupancy recently. In severe cases, there have even been reports of human waste being found. This highlights the limitations of manual inspections. To address this issue, we are finalizing the development of a 'punch list' system that allows contractors and subcontractors to monitor real-time inspection information and complete finishing processes. We plan to provide this service in the second half of the year."
