Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, "Collected Marine Debris Along the Coastline"

Spring Sea Volunteer Cleanup Activity by All Provincial Residents

On the 14th, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, conducted a springtime voluntary sea cleanup activity involving the entire province to provide a pleasant marine environment by collecting marine debris washed ashore at ports and coastal areas.


About 100 participants, including the Director of the Marine and Fisheries Bureau of Gyeongnam Province, local residents, fishing village associations, and autonomous fishery communities, worked hard during the cleanup activity.

The participants collected approximately 10 tons of marine debris such as buoys and ropes using manpower and equipment while patrolling the Pogyo Port area in Samsan-myeon.


An official from the county stated, “We are grateful to the local residents and fishermen who participated in the voluntary sea cleanup activity despite their busy schedules. We hope that the autonomous cleanup efforts by local residents and fishermen will create a clean marine environment and spread awareness of marine conservation.”
