Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Restaurant Facility Improvement Support Project'

Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do is promoting a restaurant facility improvement support project to enhance the convenience of restaurant users in the region and to establish a hygienic and pleasant dining environment.

According to the city on the 14th, this project aims to expand standing-type restaurants and to overcome the damage and normalize management of the restaurant industry, which is struggling due to a decrease in tourists caused by the economic downturn.

In particular, it was prepared to reduce the financial burden of facility improvements for self-employed business owners and to provide comfortable and pleasant services to domestic and foreign tourists and citizens visiting Jeongeup by raising the hygiene level of food service establishments.

The project includes support for costs necessary to improve facilities such as kitchens, dining halls, and restrooms to enhance the sanitary environment within restaurants, as well as converting traditional floor-seated tables to standing-type tables.

To this end, the city has secured a project budget of 140 million KRW this year and plans to support up to 7 million KRW per business (excluding self-payments).

The support targets are general restaurants, snack bars, and bakery operators registered as residents of Jeongeup City as of the announcement date.

Businesses wishing to improve their environment can apply by visiting the Jeongeup City Public Health Center’s Health and Hygiene Division or the Jeongeup branch of the Jeollabuk-do chapter of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association from the 20th to the 24th.

The city plans to select the final recipients through on-site evaluations and deliberations by the Hygiene Establishment Support Committee for the applying businesses.

For more details, check the announcement on the Jeongeup City website or contact the Health and Hygiene Division of the Jeongeup City Public Health Center.

A public health official said, “The restaurant facility improvement support project is aimed at revitalizing the local commercial district and creating a safe and clean food hygiene environment. We will continue to strive to reduce the burden on food service business owners and to create hygienic business environments.”
