Mackis Company Launches Full-Scale Distribution of New Soju Product 'Seonyang'

Makgeese Company is rapidly placing the new product Seonyang in major commercial districts, focusing on the Daejeon, Chungnam, and Sejong areas. It is being sold at large supermarkets such as E-Mart, Lotte Mart, Homeplus, and Nonghyup, as well as major convenience stores including GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, and E-Mart24, with plans to gradually expand distribution.

The new product Seonyang is based on 50 years of specialized soju manufacturing expertise and features the lowest alcohol content in Korea at 14.9 degrees and the lowest calorie count of 298 kcal (360mL). As a ‘zero sugar’ product, it has significantly reduced calories and alcohol content while receiving positive reviews as a ‘delicious soju,’ especially among younger consumers and women. This is attributed to the addition of long-aged and stored distilled rice and barley extracts to enhance flavor, and the application of a patented oxygen aging acceleration technique that creates a smooth yet clean taste characteristic of soju.

The differentiated design and rounded package, particularly the unique use of a ‘crown cap’?the only soju currently on the market to feature this?allowing the bottle to be opened with a bottle opener, also seem to have captured the attention of younger consumers.

Go Bong-hoon, Marketing Team Leader at Makgeese Company, stated, “Seonyang preserves the clean taste of soju while reducing the burden with lower alcohol content and calories, presenting a new paradigm in the domestic soju market. We will continue to lead soju trends as a brand.” He added, “Distribution will gradually expand starting from the Chungcheong region.”
