BPA and Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office Strengthen Safety Management of New Port Hinterland Complex

Busan Port Authority (BPA) and Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office held the 1st quarter New Port Hinterland Safety Council at the Busan New Port Welfare Plus Center on the 13th.


The safety council was attended by port safety inspectors from the Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, BPA port safety inspection personnel, and managers and practitioners from 45 tenant companies in the hinterland, where they shared and discussed the results of the joint safety inspection for the 1st quarter of tenant companies in the New Port hinterland.


The main agenda of the council included ▲ sharing the results of the 1st quarter joint safety inspection of the New Port hinterland ▲ sharing cases of serious forklift accidents and discussing response measures ▲ sharing and discussing agenda items submitted by tenant companies.

BPA and Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office Strengthen Safety Management of New Port Hinterland Complex The Safety Council for the New Port Hinterland Complex is currently in progress for the first quarter.

The joint safety inspections are conducted on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month, targeting three tenant companies per day to prevent safety accidents in the New Port hinterland, and any deficiencies found during the inspections are recommended for improvement.


Yoon Jong-ho, head of the Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, said, “Based on the expertise of port safety inspectors appointed under the ‘Port Safety Special Act’ affiliated with the Busan office, the safety management technology of Busan Port is improving day by day,” adding, “We will support inspectors and strive to prevent safety accidents and recurrence of serious disasters in the New Port hinterland.”


Kang Jun-seok, president of Busan Port Authority, said, “With the support of safety inspectors, who are port safety experts from the Busan office, we expect an increase in safety awareness and a reduction in accident rates among tenant companies in the hinterland,” and added, “We will work to help build a safe workplace free of hazards based on a collaborative safety management system.”


BPA is actively making efforts to reduce safety accidents, including producing and distributing the ‘Busan Port New Port Hinterland Standard Safety Manual’?the first of its kind among domestic ports?and supporting tenant companies in the New Port hinterland to establish their own safety manuals.
