Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam signed a business agreement with Galaxia Next to support the entry of local active artists' NFT content into the market.
This year, the city plans to promote the Changwon Artworks Revitalization Project, which supports the production and issuance of NFT content for prospective and established local artists in line with the digital transformation era. The project aims to nurture the potential of local artists and support their entry into new art markets, thereby strengthening the foundation of the digital content industry integrating new technologies.
The works created by local artists through this project will be available for purchase in the second half of this year on Galaxia Next’s own NFT platform, ‘MetaGalaxia,’ which holds the largest number of IPs (intellectual properties) in Korea.
Jo Myeong-rae, the second vice mayor, said, “This agreement is a significant first step for Changwon’s entry into the NFT industry. As digital assets are emerging as an important future resource, we will do our best to ensure that local artists receive the necessary support to adapt to the rapidly changing art environment and that citizens can enjoy future art culture, making Changwon a city of cultural sophistication.”
