Gyeongnam Province to Distribute Small LPG Storage Tanks to 7 Cities and Counties This Year

New Participation in Jinju City, 337 Households in 7 Villages in the Province

Gyeongsangnam-do will distribute small LPG storage tanks to 7 cities and counties this year.

According to Gyeongnam Province on the 13th, the 2023 LPG small storage tank distribution project will be carried out targeting 337 households in 7 villages within the province, including Jinju-si, Uiryeong-gun, Haman-gun, Changnyeong-gun, Sancheong-gun, Hamyang-gun, and Geochang-gun.

One hundred million won will be invested in each village with a concentrated population of 30 to less than 150 households where city gas is not supplied, to build LPG small storage tanks and pipeline networks.

Each household will be supported with the installation of auxiliary facilities such as LPG boilers and gas meters.

The project, which started as a national government-funded project in 2014, has been supplemented by provincial government funding since 2018 due to increasing resident demand.

Up to last year, 2,600 households in 57 villages within the province have benefited from the project.

This year, with the participation of Eoeun Village in Daepyeong-myeon, Jinju-si for the first time, the project will be promoted in all cities and counties within the province.

An official from the province explained that using small LPG storage tanks reduces fuel costs through a collective energy supply method and ensures safety and convenience by installing metal pipelines and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors.

Choi Jun-geun, head of the Energy Industry Division, said, “Most areas where city gas is not supplied use LPG cylinders or indoor kerosene as heating fuel. Since rural residents feel a significant burden from heating fuel costs, we will expand the project to reduce heating expenses and create a safe and convenient energy usage environment.”
