Ki Hoi Kwan, who played Waymond, the husband of Evelyn (played by Yang Zicheng) in the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once (hereafter referred to as Everything), won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 95th Academy Awards.


On the 12th (local time), Ki Hoi Kwan took home the Best Supporting Actor trophy at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA, beating Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway), Judd Hirsch (Pavelmans), and Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin).


Everything is a story about Evelyn, a first-generation immigrant in the United States, who travels through multiple universes. The film was praised for portraying the realistic hardships and generational conflicts experienced by Asian American families through the sci-fi genre.

Ki Hoi Kwan, a Vietnamese refugee, first gained attention as a child actor in the second installment of Indiana Jones. Through Everything, he once again captured the global film industry's attention and entered his second prime. With this work, he won over 60 Best Supporting Actor trophies at various award ceremonies including the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice, and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, predicting his Oscar win. This is his first Oscar trophy.


On stage that day, Ki Hoi Kwan, holding the trophy with tears in his eyes, said, "My wife has told me every year, every month for 20 years, 'Someday your time will come. Your era will come.'" He added, "You all must believe in your dreams. I want to tell you to keep dreaming."


The sci-fi comedy film Everything was the most nominated film at the 95th Academy Awards. It was nominated in 10 categories with 11 nominations (including two for Best Supporting Actress). Jamie Lee Curtis, who played Deirdre, an IRS agent threatening to seize the laundromat run by Evelyn, won the Best Supporting Actress award. Curtis beat Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Hong Chau (The Whale), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
