The New Excellent Technology (NET) certification system is a national certification system granted by the National Institute of Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for excellent technologies that are either newly developed domestically or improved existing technologies. The new technology certification is awarded after three rounds of evaluation based on the following criteria: ▲original technologies developed domestically that are superior or equivalent to advanced countries and commercially viable ▲technologies with significant technical and economic ripple effects that contribute to enhancing national technological capabilities and strengthening international competitiveness ▲whether a quality management system is established to maintain the performance of the product as set out in the development goals in terms of product quality and safety.
Jongkundang Health was recognized for the excellence of its technology that uses next-generation sequencing (NGS) to accurately detect various microbial species, including 19 lactic acid bacteria strains announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, with a single test.
The technology developed by Jongkundang Health can simultaneously verify not only the components of lactic acid bacteria contained in probiotic products but also the presence of contaminant bacteria that may be mixed during the manufacturing process. Jongkundang Health explained that this technology is intended for continuous use in production and quality control purposes, not just a one-time test for research purposes. The technology was patented last year and its excellence was confirmed through verification tests conducted by the Korea Food Science Institute, an accredited analysis institution.
Jongkundang Health plans to apply this technology to its probiotic lactic acid bacteria product 'Lactofit' and attach the New Excellent Technology (NET) certification mark.
Kim Byung-yong, head of the Jongkundang Health Research Institute, said, "Lactofit is a product made with live bacteria, so it is important to strictly and meticulously manage its safety and efficacy. We will continue to develop new technologies to improve the quality of Lactofit, enhance consumer trust, and contribute to the promotion of public health."
