Samsung Electronics Introduces New Heat Pump in Germany... "Targeting the European HVAC Market"

Introduction of New EHS Products at ISH 2023

Samsung Electronics will participate for the first time in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning exhibition 'ISH 2023' held in Frankfurt, Germany, from the 13th to the 17th (local time). The company plans to actively target the European HVAC market by showcasing air conditioning solutions for a sustainable future.

Samsung Electronics has prepared an exhibition space of approximately 489㎡ (150 pyeong) to introduce new high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, the heat pump 'EHS' products. These include the 'EHS Mono R290' and 'EHS Mono HT Quiet.' The EHS products are HVAC systems that replace boilers, supporting heating, cooling, and hot water supply. Compared to boilers, they emit less carbon dioxide, increasing demand mainly in Europe.

The EHS Mono R290, unveiled by Samsung Electronics for the first time, is the first Samsung EHS product to apply the natural refrigerant R290. The R290 natural refrigerant has an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0 and a global warming potential (GWP) of 3, making it more environmentally friendly than the existing R32 refrigerant. The EHS Mono R290 offers higher energy efficiency (SCOP) and supports supplying high-temperature water up to 75℃ for heating compared to previous models.

Samsung Electronics also introduces the EHS Mono HT Quiet, which applies low-noise technology. This product operates at a minimum of 35 decibels (dB) and has received the Quiet Mark certification. It features 100% heating performance even in extreme conditions as low as minus 25℃. It was also recognized for sustainability by the organizers and received the 'Design Plus' award.

Samsung Electronics will also showcase 'SmartThings Energy,' which works well with EHS products. SmartThings Energy is a service that manages energy used in the home and connects not only with EHS but also with Samsung home appliances to suggest ways to save household energy.

Choi Young-jun, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Home Appliance Business Division, said, "We will strengthen our efforts to target the European heating and cooling market with EHS products applying eco-friendly, high-efficiency refrigerants, including the products introduced at ISH 2023."
