Ulsan City is holding a design competition for a world-class performance hall to be built around the Taehwagang River area.
The 13th Public Design Competition is being held under the theme "World-Class Opera House on Taehwagang." It was organized to raise public interest in the world-class performance hall project promoted by Ulsan City and to discover designs and ideas for the performance hall.
The competition is divided into three categories: public spaces, public facilities, and public visual media, seeking optimized performance hall designs and ideas that harmonize with the Taehwagang River. Ulsan City plans to prioritize feasibility over broad design plans in the evaluation process.
To participate, applicants must submit an application form, entry panels, and an explanatory statement via email during the three days from August 29 to 31.
Ulsan City will select 27 works and award a total prize of 15 million KRW (5 million KRW for the grand prize). The results of the judging will be announced on Ulsan City's official website in September. The selected works will be exhibited jointly with the Ulsan Architecture and Culture Festival.
An official from Ulsan City said, "This event aims to discover world-class performance hall designs and ideas linked to the Taehwagang River, which runs through the center of Ulsan," and added, "We hope for much interest and participation in the Ulsan City Public Design Competition."
