'Medical Korea 2023' Opens on the 23rd... First Offline Event in 3 Years

The 13th Global Healthcare & Medical Tourism Conference (Medical Korea 2023), hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, will be held for two days starting on the 23rd at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

This event, the largest healthcare conference in Korea featuring global healthcare experts from around the world as speakers, is being held offline for the first time in three years since the COVID-19 pandemic.


The conference will begin with keynote speeches by futurist and health diplomacy expert Jamie Metzl and Hwang Hee, CEO of Kakao Healthcare, followed by four forums and six seminars covering topics such as ▲medical tourism trends ▲online training ▲healthcare MyData ▲digital healthcare ▲regional international medical business scale-up strategies, with 65 speakers participating. Business meetings and government-to-government (G2G) sessions are also scheduled.


At the 'Global Medical Tourism Trends and Healthcare Cooperation Opportunities' forum, the latest trends in the global healthcare industry and healthcare cooperation opportunities through medical tourism policies will be explored. Speakers include Keith Pollard, editor of IMTJ (International Medical Travel Journal), as well as global healthcare experts from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, China, and Ukraine, who will introduce medical tourism policies in the endemic era.


The 'Strategies to Revitalize Online Training Projects' forum will feature presentations on training projects related to surgical techniques, medical ICT, and hospital management courses, along with testimonials from trainees from Mongolia and Uzbekistan. The 'Restarting International Medical Services in the Next Normal Era' forum will include government agencies and medical institution representatives discussing achievements and future strategies in international medical business realized during the pandemic.


The 'Healthcare Innovation in the MyData Era' forum will forecast changes and innovations in healthcare affecting patients and medical institutions due to the spread of MyData. Co-hosted with the Korean Medical Biojournalists Association, this forum will include a panel discussion with Professor Kim Juhan of Seoul National University College of Medicine and Director Kim Daejin of the Catholic University Information Convergence Promotion Institute, reviewing the preparedness of medical institutions and platforms as well as related legal issues.


Earlier, the Korea Health Industry Development Institute selected five keywords as this year’s top international medical trends: ▲endemic ▲non-face-to-face medical care ▲healthcare MyData ▲medical tourism recovery ▲digital therapeutics (DTx). Participation in this conference is free, with pre-registration available until the 17th of this month. On-site registration on the day of the event will also allow free admission.
