"Move-in Halted at Gaepo Xi Due to Lawsuit... 400 Households Restless"

Move-in Started Late Last Month... Key Handover Not Allowed Within 2 Weeks
On-site Daycare Existing Since Before Reconstruction Demands Compensation

At the end of last month, the 'Gaepo Xi Presidents' in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (reconstruction of Gaepo Jugong Complex 4) began move-ins, but less than two weeks later, move-ins were halted due to a lawsuit related to the daycare center within the complex.

According to Yonhap News and others on the 12th, the reconstruction association announced to its members the day before that "from the 13th to the 24th of this month, keys will not be issued, making move-ins impossible." This is because the daycare center (Gyeonggi Kindergarten) that existed in the complex before reconstruction filed a request with the Seoul Administrative Court to suspend the effect of the completion approval, demanding compensation. As the court accepted this, move-ins will be impossible until the 24th.

Accordingly, Gangnam District Office issued an order to the association on the 10th to comply with the move-in suspension, and the construction company GS Construction also stated that keys cannot be issued starting from the 13th.

Gaepo Xi Presidents is a large complex with 3,375 households, and move-ins began on the 28th of last month, with about 800 households having moved in so far. It is reported that about 400 households were scheduled to move in by the 24th, when key issuance will be suspended. Prospective residents are unable to even visit the apartments temporarily and are forced to urgently adjust their moving schedules.

The court will hold a hearing on the 17th and is expected to make a final decision on the lawsuit related to the daycare center within the Gaepo Xi complex by the 24th. If the court cancels the suspension request, move-ins can resume, but if the suspension is upheld, it is unknown when move-ins will restart.
