Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is preparing and implementing customized policies to effectively respond to changes caused by low birth rates and population aging.
On the 12th, Yongin City announced that it will invest a total of 535.7 billion KRW in 94 projects in line with the national-level '4th Basic Plan for Low Birth Rate and Aging Society.'
The projects are divided into four areas: ▲ Creating a society where people work and care together ▲ Building a healthy and active aging society ▲ A society where everyone's capabilities are evenly demonstrated ▲ Adapting to changes in population structure.
The project to create a society where people work and care together provides demand-centered care services aimed at establishing conditions for working and caring together regardless of gender.
A total of 223.7 billion KRW will be invested in 46 projects, including transportation cost support for births in multi-child families, water and sewage fee reductions for families with three or more children, expansion of national and public daycare centers, expansion of community care centers, and student commuting support projects.
The project to build a healthy and active aging society allocates 297.1 billion KRW to 15 projects such as senior job and social activity support, strengthening proactive dementia prevention management, and home-based elderly services to guarantee basic healthy living and support active roles for the elderly.
The project for a society where everyone's capabilities are evenly demonstrated assigns 14.1 billion KRW to 26 projects to help young generations become independent, including support for youth jeonse deposit return guarantee fees, export internships, Youth Tomorrow Savings Accounts, and interest support for newlywed couples' jeonse loans.
The project to adapt to changes in population structure invests 700 million KRW in 7 projects such as integrated case management, multicultural family program operation, father role support projects, and population education projects.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, emphasized, "We will strengthen support to establish a solid care system to guarantee children's basic rights and help youth build a foundation for independence in important life stages such as education, employment, marriage, and childbirth. Along with this, we will make every effort at the city level to overcome the country's biggest challenge, the low birth rate problem."
