Casualties Reported in Kherson, Southern Ukraine, Due to Russian Attacks

Russian Forces Shell Kherson Region Multiple Times

Civilian casualties and vehicle damage occurred due to a Russian airstrike in Kherson, a city in southern Ukraine.


According to foreign media including AFP, Andriy Yermak, Chief of Staff to the President of Ukraine, stated on the 11th (local time) via Telegram, "Russian terrorists are attacking Kherson again."


Authorities in the Kherson region reported that on the same day, shells fired by Russian forces fell in civilian areas of Kherson city, resulting in 5 casualties, including 3 deaths. Several vehicles in the surrounding area were also damaged by fire.

Kherson is a southern Ukrainian port city and the capital of Kherson Oblast. Russia occupied the Kherson area last year but withdrew following a counterattack by Ukrainian forces, and has since continued to attack the region. Russian forces also shelled civilian residential areas and public facilities on the 22nd of last month. There was also shelling on the 3rd of that month.


Meanwhile, Russian forces attacked the eastern Ukrainian city of Lyman and other areas in Donetsk Oblast on the same day. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced, "We attacked the Lyman area, inflicting damage on 90 Ukrainian soldiers, 1 mortar, 2 armored vehicles, and 2 pickup trucks."
