Dogok Information and Culture Library 10th Anniversary... Event?

Gangnam-gu Dogok Information and Culture Library Celebrates 10th Anniversary with a Variety of Events

From the 14th to the 31st: Author Kim Min-sik’s Lecture, Celebration Cake Making Experience, Book Coupon ‘Dotto’ Drawing, and More

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) Dogok Information and Culture Library is hosting a commemorative event from the 14th to the 31st under the theme “Repeat Sign: Looking Back at Dogok” to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Since its opening in 2013, the Dogok Information and Culture Library currently holds about 120,000 volumes. Last year, it recorded 590,000 visitors and 300,000 loans, making it the most frequently used representative library in the area. This event reflects on the library’s past 10 years and offers a variety of activities and attractions for everyone to enjoy.

On the 14th, the 10th anniversary ceremony will feature various events including ▲author lectures ▲flea market ▲stamp tour. The author lecture will invite writer Kim Min-sik, who has been a consistent user of the library since its opening, to speak on the theme “The Best Gift of My Life, the Library.” Additionally, a flea market open to all will be held in the first-floor lobby, and a “Dodo Stamp Tour” with gift giveaways will take place in the children’s section on the third floor.

On the 19th, events suitable for family visitors will be held. At 10 a.m., there will be a cake-making session called “Dodi, Congratulations on Your Life,” where participants can make a cake modeled after the library mascot ‘Dodi’ together with their children. At 2:30 p.m., a band performance titled “Andersen Fairy Tale Concert,” which reinterprets Andersen’s fairy tales, will offer a unique experience of listening to fairy tales through music.

Moreover, book borrowers can draw a book coupon called ‘Dotto’ during library operating hours. The name ‘Dotto’ combines ‘Do’ from Dogok Information and Culture Library and ‘Lotto’ from the lottery, offering benefits such as “one more book loan” and “double loan rights.”

From the 14th to the 19th, a photo zone for commemorative pictures and a video exhibition documenting 10 years of history will be available. Until the 31st, visitors can also enjoy a special exhibition showcasing the library’s 10-year history, book displays, and autograph exhibitions from notable figures who have visited the library.

Anyone can participate in the commemorative events, and those interested in hands-on experiences can apply through the Dogok Information and Culture Library website. For more details, please refer to the library’s website or contact them by phone.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “Congratulations on the 10th anniversary of Dogok Information and Culture Library,” and added, “We will actively support the operation of 27 libraries in Gangnam-gu to provide residents with quality books and various cultural events.”
