Seongdong-gu Provides Subsidies of 1 Million KRW for Electric Cars and 2 Million KRW for Hydrogen Cars

Subsidy support for residents aged 18 and over with an address in Seongdong-gu who purchase eco-friendly vehicles from 30 days before the application date

Hydrogen vehicles receive 2 million KRW, an increase of 1 million KRW from last year; electric vehicles 1 million KRW; electric two-wheelers newly supported with 750,000 KRW

Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced on the 13th that it will provide subsidies for the purchase of eco-friendly vehicles.

The target applicants are residents aged 18 or older with an address in Seongdong-gu from 30 days before the application date until the application date, who have purchased and registered an eco-friendly vehicle this year. Support is provided on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted. Detailed criteria and schedules can be found on the Seongdong-gu Office website.

The subsidies provided this time are additional to the national and city subsidies, funded by the district budget, making it the largest scale among Seoul’s autonomous districts. Hydrogen vehicles will receive 2 million KRW, an increase of 1 million KRW from last year, and electric two-wheelers will be newly supported up to 750,000 KRW.

By vehicle type, support will be provided for a total of 340 units as follows: ▲up to 1 million KRW for electric vehicles on a differentiated basis ▲2 million KRW flat support for hydrogen vehicles ▲up to 750,000 KRW for electric two-wheelers on a differentiated basis.

Seongdong-gu has proactively built eco-friendly infrastructure by installing a total of 144 outlet-type electric vehicle chargers in public parking lots. There are 2,269 chargers installed in the area, actively promoting the expansion of environmentally friendly vehicle distribution. Thanks to this infrastructure expansion, the number of electric vehicles increased 3.8 times from 578 units in 2019 to 2,248 units last year.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We plan to actively promote eco-friendly policies as a ‘double-pull’ toward a carbon-neutral city by supporting purchase subsidies following the establishment of eco-friendly vehicle infrastructure. As it is now time to take proactive carbon reduction measures, we will implement various administrative efforts, including expanding practical actions in daily life.”
