Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 10th that it will host the 30th Korea Orchid Masterpiece National Competition.

This exhibition is hosted by Hwasun-gun and organized by the Korea Orchid Culture Association and the Hwasun Orchid Federation. It will be held for two days from the 18th to the 19th at the Haniyum Culture and Sports Center Indoor Gymnasium.

Following the spring and autumn exhibitions held last year, the county is accelerating preparations for this year's exhibition with more refined artwork displays and substantial programs.

This exhibition will showcase 1,000 pieces including Korean Choonran, Poongran, Seokgok, Hanran, and rare orchids, with awards given to 98 works including the grand prize.

The exhibition is expected to feature outstanding Korean Choonran and various orchids from across the country. Submission and judging will take place on the day before the opening, the 17th, and awards for excellent works will be presented at the opening ceremony at 2 p.m. on the 18th.

The county aims to widely promote the value and excellence of Korean orchids and create a culture where anyone can keep and enjoy orchids, which are gaining popularity as companion plants, by offering various orchid-related experience events for people of all ages.

Additionally, a sales booth for local agricultural and specialty products will be set up to promote clean agricultural and specialty products produced in the county and support farmers' income.

Hwasun-gun plans to hold orchid exhibitions every spring and autumn to understand industry trends, strengthen competitiveness, foster orchid-related industries, and link these efforts to income generation for local residents.

A county official said, “We hope this exhibition will raise the status of Hwasun-gun, the treasure trove of orchids, and serve as an opportunity to popularize Korean orchids, which hold precious value as companion plants, and develop them as a source of income.”
