Daedong Hospital Holds Certification Plaque Ceremony as Diabetes Education Accredited Hospital

Daedong Hospital held a plaque ceremony for the Diabetes Education Certified Hospital on the morning of the 10th in the outpatient endocrinology department.

Daedong Hospital Holds Certification Plaque Ceremony as Diabetes Education Accredited Hospital After the certification plaque ceremony for Daedong Hospital as a diabetes education certified hospital, the officials are taking a commemorative photo.

The Korean Diabetes Association visits hospitals in person to present plaques in order to commend the efforts of diabetes educators working in medical settings and to boost morale.

Attending the plaque ceremony were Lee Kwang-jae, Head of Medical Planning at Daedong Hospital (Endocrinology Specialist), Jo Ara, Head of Endocrinology, Jung Mi-jin, Head of Nursing, and nurses dedicated to diabetes education, among other related personnel.

From the Korean Diabetes Association, Professor Kim Nan-hee of Endocrinology at Korea University Ansan Hospital and Lim Jeong-hyun, Director of Nutrition Services at Seoul National University Hospital, attended the event.

The Korean Diabetes Association selects diabetes education-certified hospitals through evaluations targeting medical institutions that regularly conduct diabetes education at least twice a month by diabetes education teams composed of professionals from three or more fields?such as doctors, nurses, and nutritionists?who hold diabetes educator certifications, in order to provide standardized guidelines for diabetes treatment and education.

At Daedong Hospital, Head Lee Kwang-jae and Head Jo Ara, along with Chief Nurse Park Ki-ye and Nutrition Team Leader Park Ji-young, received diabetes educator certification, and the hospital was selected as a diabetes education certified hospital in 2022.

At the plaque ceremony, Head Lee Kwang-jae said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the Korean Diabetes Association officials who visited Daedong Hospital despite their busy schedules to hold this plaque ceremony. I expect this event to serve as an opportunity for the diabetes education team staff to encourage each other’s efforts and take pride as diabetes experts, doing their best in the field.” He added, “We will continue to strive to provide high-quality diabetes education.”

Since last year, Daedong Hospital has established and operated a diabetes education room on the second floor of the main building’s endocrinology outpatient department. To receive diabetes education counseling, patients must first have an endocrinology consultation and obtain a prescription, then visit at the scheduled time to receive education and counseling tailored to their condition, lasting approximately one to one and a half hours.
