With the stocks of Ecopro and Ecopro BM soaring this year and great interest in the secondary battery sector, SAT ENG is attracting investors' attention by successfully localizing secondary battery materials that were previously dependent on overseas sources.
As of 11:15 AM on the 10th, SAT ENG's stock price is trading at 3,900 KRW, up 13.87% from the previous trading day. This is due to the spotlight on Ecochemical, a company spun off from SAT ENG, for its success in localizing secondary battery materials.
Ecochemical is a company that SAT ENG, listed on KOSDAQ, spun off in 2019. Ecochemical is known to be developing ceramic-coated separator binders and aqueous anode binders. Binder materials play a role in bonding active materials and conductive agents to the current collector in secondary battery electrodes. When the binder is used in small amounts but has strong adhesion, it contributes to electrochemical stability and overall battery quality improvement. This directly and indirectly affects the lifespan of batteries for electric vehicles and ESS (Energy Storage Systems).
Ecochemical plans to conduct tests for the development and mass production of water-dispersible acrylic binders (NB-3, NB5) and ceramic separator additives (CEPV), which are secondary battery materials, and aims to begin full-scale mass production of these two materials this year. According to industry sources, many battery-related companies such as LG Chem, Vexel, and Kokam have reportedly submitted letters of intent to purchase binders and additives from Ecochemical.
Regarding this, last year, Seong Jun-kyung, CEO of Ecochemical, explained, "The water-dispersible binder with excellent electrode adhesion is currently being applied to the supercapacitor line," and "It is scheduled for delivery for lithium secondary batteries." He added, "The development of separator binder additives has been completed, and evaluation at the mass production scale has been finished," and "Delivery is expected soon." CEO Seong also stated, "Currently, domestic secondary battery manufacturers rely on Japanese products, but Ecochemical has completed the registration of pilot production product approval and is conducting some deliveries."
