Hanjin Acquires Additional Qualifications for Hazardous Chemical Transport Business License

Targeting the Logistics Market in the Petrochemical Sector

Hanjin is securing opportunities to participate in transportation in the petrochemical sector by additionally acquiring hazardous chemical transportation business licenses and permits supervised by the Ministry of Environment.

On the 10th, Hanjin announced that as the Chemical Substances Control Act is gradually being strengthened and the demand for related certifications is increasing during client company bids, it has additionally acquired hazardous chemical transportation business qualifications for 18 items as of February 13. The company had previously obtained hazardous chemical transportation business licenses and permits in August 2019.

Through this acquisition, Hanjin plans to target the logistics market in the petrochemical sector centered on its five logistics business branches located in regions with domestic petrochemical complexes: Jeonnam (Gwangyang), Ulsan, Jungbu (Pyeongtaek), Gumi, and Sejong branches.

To additionally acquire the hazardous chemical transportation business licenses and permits, Hanjin secured documents related to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) from each client company starting in October last year. In December, it completed preparations for the inspection by additionally securing safety equipment certified by law.

Through this, from January this year, Hanjin underwent on-site inspections of handling facilities by the Korea Environment Corporation and the Ministry of Environment for about five weeks. As of February 13, it has completed the final acquisition of hazardous chemical transportation business qualifications.

With the acquisition of the qualification, Hanjin has completed attracting chemical and energy companies located in Pohang. It plans to strengthen sales targeting companies located in Gwangyang, Pyeongtaek, and Sejong, expecting to achieve sales of about 20 billion KRW in the hazardous chemical transportation sector this year.
