Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital announced on the 10th that it supported bone conduction implant surgery and cochlear implant surgery for two Mongolian children.
Under the direction of Professor Lee Chi-gyu of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, bone conduction implant surgery was performed on Margad Erden (10), a child with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss and congenital microtia, and cochlear implant surgery was performed on Badam Lyanghowa (12), a child with severe sensorineural hearing loss. They are currently recovering healthily.
The Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital medical volunteer team discovered the two children last September while conducting medical volunteer activities at Brilliant Hospital in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Through medical records and social welfare counseling, they confirmed that surgery cost support was possible and provided surgery fees, hospitalization fees, and medical devices through charitable medical sponsorship funds. The foreign patient attraction agency IHC sponsored airfare and living expenses in Korea.
The mother of Margad Erden and the father of Badam Lyanghowa said, "We are grateful to Soonchunhyang University Hospital and many people in the Republic of Korea for their efforts on behalf of our children," and added, "We will raise them healthily and repay the kindness."
Lee Jeong-jae, director of Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital, said, "Last year, we signed agreements with six university hospitals in Mongolia and are strengthening exchange cooperation," adding, "We are grateful to be able to convey meaningful love such as this surgery support and wish the children a speedy recovery."
